Moab, Utah - 'Zu 'Zoo III

Introduction

'Zu 'Zoo III, organized by Randy Burelson was held May 4-8 in Moab, Utah. Somewhere around 60 rigs showed up for 4 days of fun on the slickrock. Various trails were run, with a usual run of 3 separate groups on different trails each day.

The Trails

Wednesday
Randy and a small group took on Kane Creek Canyon in a pre-run.

Thursday (photos)
Our first real day of 'Zu'Zoo III, we went on the 7 Mile Rim run.
Others, with more capabilility, went on the Poison Spider Mesa run

Friday (photos)
Looking for a little more challenge, and some great scenery, we went for Behind The Rocks.
Another group, lifted and locked wanted to try out
Golden Spike, where we had the only casualty.
A third group went for the scenic drive on
Porcupine Rim.

Saturday (photos)
Looking for what makes Moab famous, I opted for Fins and Things.
A second group, leaving early went out for
Metal Masher.
While a third group opted for
Kane Creek Canyon, this time an official run.

Sunday
Many of up packed up to leave or play tourist, and the weather was turning nasty. Those that didn't get enought body damage decided to give Hells Revenge a try.

The Rigs

There were around 60 rigs, including 1st Gen Amigos, 2nd Gen Amigos, Rodeos of all ages and 2- and 4-door troopers. We even had a few honorary Isuzus including Jeeps, Toyotas and Suzukis. Probably the most common vehicle there was the Rodeo.

Highlights

What can I say? We all had a great time at this rally. We had short runs, completed in a few hours, and longer runs that lasted until well after dark. Golden Spike took over 14 hours. There were a few casualties, including a jeep that went end over end for some body damage, and at least 2 U-joints on a 1st Gen Amigo that died. Saturday was the group BBQ/Pot luck and most everyone got some sort of door prize ranging from a new soft top to official Isuzu Flip-Flops. Everyone agreed, we can't wait for next year.
